Background of the Association’s Establishment :
The Global Youth Dialogue among Civilizations Alliance (GYDCA) was founded in response to the increasing need for intercultural dialogue in an era of globalization and digitalization. As interactions between different cultures and civilizations have expanded, so have misunderstandings and conflicts, particularly among youth. GYDCA was created to provide a platform for young people worldwide to engage in meaningful cultural exchange, promoting mutual understanding and respect.
The establishment of GYDCA is closely linked to China’s “Global Civilization Dialogue” initiative. In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the “Civilization Dialogue” initiative, advocating for dialogue to enhance mutual understanding and trust among civilizations, promoting the diversity of world cultures and their common development. The further development of this initiative in 2023 inspired the founding of GYDCA, offering a broader space for youth engagement and participation in global dialogue.
Moreover, GYDCA has received strong support from UNESCO. UNESCO has long been committed to promoting cultural diversity and peace worldwide. In the context of rapid technological advancements and globalization, intercultural dialogue has become increasingly vital. Through its collaboration with UNESCO and other international organizations, GYDCA aims to foster the protection of world cultural heritage and engage young people in addressing global challenges through dialogue and innovative solutions.
Mission & Goals :
GYDCA is committed to fostering understanding among young people through cultural exchange and cooperation. The alliance works with UNESCO and other international organizations to promote intercultural dialogue, cultural heritage preservation, and the spread of universal values.
Global Youth Dialogue Forum 2025 :
In June 2025, GYDCA will host the first “Global Youth Dialogue Forum” at UNESCO Headquarters on the occasion of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. Around 350 youth, NGO representatives, experts, and policymakers will gather to promote intercultural dialogue and address global challenges.
Looking Ahead :
Through these initiatives, GYDCA strengthens its commitment to promoting UNESCO’s values, working to create a platform for global youth to collaborate, innovate, and preserve cultural heritage.
